New England Environmental Internship Program -
http://www.nebhe.org

Applications will accepted winter 2002

  • Do you have a strong interest in environmental issues and management?
  • Would you like to get paid to work on environmental issues this summer?

The New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE) Environmental Internship Program provides qualified college juniors and seniors with 10-week paid job assignments during the summer break. To be eligible, students must be either a New England resident or a student pursuing environmental studies, engineering, science or policy majors at colleges and universities in the region.

New England's environmental research institutions and industries represent an area of competitive advantage for the six-state region. New England's colleges and universities, providers and users of environmental products and services, and government agencies work together as the environmental industry (products and services) "reinvents" itself due, in part, to the lessening of a compliance-driven market.

Since its inception in 1995, NEBHE's Environmental Internship Program has received strong support from the region's environmental community. Thirty-two corporations, 14 government agencies and15 nonprofit organizations, hiring a total of 134 interns, have provided students with the opportunity to engage in challenging, real-world environmental work assignments.

Green Map Systems Internships - http://www.greenmap.org

Green Map Systems coordinates environmental mapping of communities by local citizens. The goal is to strengthen the community's awareness of and connection to the urban ecology through locally created visual representations of hometown environments. Mixing the ancient art of map-making with new, interactive media, citizens of all ages and backgrounds are invited to adapt and employ our global iconography and collaborative tools as they chart the green places, environmental resources and socially significant sites in their own cities. Green Maps illuminate the interconnections between society, nature and the built environment, helping residents make lower impact lifestyle choices and discover great ways to get involved in the urban ecology, and simultaneously guide visitors (especially virtual ones) to successful initiatives they can replicate back home.

Green Map Systems is seeking enthusiastic interns to work in their New York headquarters. Interested persons should check out the Green Map Systems web site (www.greenmap.org) and then email Greeen Map's Director Wendy Brawer with your background experiences and project ideas.
